Halloween

It’s the time again for the Halloween to shudder the loins of Dubai. The searches have begun and the spookiest venues are all set to celebrate the evening of 31st October’09-‘The Halloween Night’. There are a wide range of events on their way to Bars, Clubs to Hotels or, may be, just associative get-togethers. It is believed that the Halloween is one of the times of the year when the spirits make contact with the physical world and the magic is most potent.

The event derives its name from ‘All Hallows’ Eve’ or ‘All Saints Day’. On this eve, every year, traditional activities like, trick-or-treating, Halloween festivals, costume parties, bonfires, visiting “haunted houses”, viewing horror films, and participating in traditional autumn activities, become the part of celebrations.

Halloween is celebrated in parts of the western world, most commonly in Ireland, the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and the United Kingdom and sometimes in Australia and New Zealand. In recent years, the holiday has also been celebrated in various other parts of Western Europe.
Halloween Costumes: The choice of Halloween Costumes starts from, the purchase of costumes what your pocket allows, to, creating your own inexpensive costume yourself. The self-created costumes can go from a simple robot or spider to a highly innovative mummy or else a skeleton.

Halloween Decorations: Invitation of the Halloween Party may include the compulsion of the shocking masks to be worn by the guests. In addition to all this, the decoration of the Halloween Party actually plays a vital role in lighting up the mood of the party-goers. Since the theme is frightful, one has to really keep a check that the props used in decorating the party venue are idiosyncratically dreadful. And as the theme suggests, you can add cut body parts at one corner, graveyard props on the other, scary puppets at one end or may be cobweb effects on other side of the venue.

Halloween is an event in which the organizer makes sure that each of his guests has acquired the combination of fun and horror in his heart before leaving. In short, he should have had it all what The Halloween suggests.

History Mystery

The festival of Halloween has its roots in the Celtic rituals related to the dead people ages back in the timeline. Eons have passed but the very mention of the festival recalls to mind images of ghosts, witches, hobgoblins and devils. While retaining traditional echoes intact, Halloween rituals have evolved with time. Today Halloween is celebrated as a festival of fun and frolic.

How is Halloween celebrated?

Halloween is enjoyed by children and adults alike. On Halloween, people dress up in bizarre and scary costumes. Children go from door to door demanding candies and treats shouting “Trick or treat?”. Parties and get-togethers lend an air of bonhomie to the wintry surroundings.

Goose-bumpy Halloween belief

It is believed that the boundaries between our world and the world of the dead vanish on Halloween night. It is also held that ghosts of the dead visit our world on Halloween.

Halloween – The Festival of Fright – in Dubai

English… American… French… Spanish… Indian… Australian… It is a melting pot of cultures in the world city of Dubai. The festive Dubai holidays spirit also permeates across boundaries… no sooner Ramadan and Eid have passed that Halloween is round the corner, closely followed by Diwali – the Indian festival of lights.

Let’s talk of Halloween in Dubai this time. Dubai is all set for the festival with souqs, shopping malls and supermarkets offering a range of terrifying Halloween outfits. Pumpkin Boy, Spooky Vampire, Gothic Witch… there is no end to imagination playing behind these fun garments for everyone. Demons, ghouls and werewolves have taken to the centre stage indeed.

In addition, a number of parties have been organized around the city for families or exclusively for adults. Visitors to the Emirates Golf Club enjoyed traditional trick-or-treating and a host of spooky activities at the Liberty Family Round-up recently.

On the night of October 31, DJ Marky Mark will deliver an ambience of horror at the Irish Village. There will be fancy dress competitions and Halloween games at the venue. With a free entry, the event begins at 7 in the evening.

If you don’t want to go out, celebrate Halloween at your home in Dubai. Play ghosts while watching really spooky movies. Some horrifying horrors – Halloween, Psycho, Scream… choose your own pick from your nearest DVD parlour.

With a major part of the population constituting of foreign nationals, regional festivals take on a hybrid tinge retaining their uniqueness at the same time. It’s quite an experience of its kind celebrating Halloween in Dubai.
